Dark Horse Notes #25
The Power of Seeing Beyond Today
Personal Note from Lisa
Hi friends,
I often talk about the importance of having a vision because I believe it serves as our compass. It helps us make decisions, prioritize our time, and remain focused when progress feels slow.
What I don't always talk about is that vision and imagination go hand in hand.
To have a vision requires us to imagine things that do not yet exist. It asks us to see possibilities beyond our current circumstances and to hold onto those images long enough for our actions to begin bringing them to life.
Whether we're building a business, improving our health, pursuing a dream, or simply trying to become a better version of ourselves, we must first be willing to see things as we want them to be—not only as they are today.
What I've been thinking about lately is how imagination seems to come naturally when we're young. We dream about who we'll become, places we'll go, and things we'll someday create. Yet somewhere along the way, many of us begin trading imagination for practicality. We become more concerned with what is probable than with what is possible.
I don't think visionaries ever completely lose their imagination, but I do think we sometimes allow it to become dormant. We become so focused on solving today's problems and pursuing today's goals that we forget to spend time imagining what might exist five or ten years from now.
Perhaps that's why revisiting our vision matters so much. It gives us permission to dream a little bigger, expand our thinking beyond our current circumstances, and reconnect with possibilities that may have quietly slipped into the background.
As we approach the halfway point of the year, it feels like an appropriate time to pause and reconnect with the bigger picture—not just what we're doing each day, but what we're still allowing ourselves to envision.
Cheering you on!!!

Dark Horse Digital Media Gets a Refresh
Creativity thrives when ideas are shared.
This week, the Dark Horse Team revisited the Dark Horse Digital Media website and gave it a fresh update.
Dark Horse Digital Media is the creative arm of The Dark Horse Project, helping bring ideas, stories, and meaningful work into the world through articles, interviews, video, design, and collaborative media projects. We believe there are countless people quietly doing remarkable things, and one of our favorite things is helping shine a light on them.
As our ecosystem continues to grow, we're excited to keep creating content that informs, inspires, and connects people who are building something they genuinely care about.

Empowering Thought
Revisit the Blueprint
As we approach the midpoint of the year, it may be worth asking ourselves a few questions.
Are we still building the same life we set out to create?
Has our definition of success changed?
Does our calendar reflect what matters most?
Have we become so focused on checking boxes that we've lost sight of the vision behind them?
When a builder constructs a home, they don't simply pour the foundation and continue building without ever looking back at the plans. They revisit the blueprint regularly, making sure each room, doorway, and detail still aligns with the original design. Sometimes adjustments are needed. Materials change. New ideas emerge. Certain elements become more important while others no longer make sense.
Perhaps our lives deserve the same level of intentionality.
Midyear isn't a finish line. It's an opportunity to step back, revisit the blueprint, and ensure that the actions we take each day are still moving us toward a future that feels meaningful and aligned.
The truth is that visions evolve. Priorities shift. New opportunities appear. Experiences teach us things we couldn't have anticipated when we first imagined where we wanted to go. What once seemed important may no longer resonate, while possibilities we hadn't considered may begin calling for our attention.
Recalibration isn't a sign that we've failed or drifted off course. More often, it's evidence that we've grown.
Sometimes recalibration means making small adjustments to our routines and commitments. Other times, it means giving ourselves permission to dream a little bigger, redefine success, or pursue opportunities that didn't exist when we first drafted the plans.
The goal isn't to remain rigidly attached to a blueprint created months or years ago. The goal is to remain deeply connected to the person we're becoming and the life we're intentionally creating.
As the second half of the year approaches, perhaps it's time to pull out the plans again.
What still feels aligned?
What deserves more of our time and energy?
What possibilities have quietly slipped into the background?
And perhaps most importantly—
What future are you still willing to imagine?
